The third-placedDockers took advantage of the wind assistance in the first term to produce a flawless display against Lauderdale, kicking 8.2 (50) to 0.2 (2).

The 48-point buffer that Clint Proctor’s men enjoyed at the first change was the catalyst of their 12.10 (82) to 8.9 (57) win at West Park.

After quarter-timethe Southern Bombers outscored the home team 8.7 to 4.8, with conditions in the second half changing the flow of the match.

The first quarter was a sight to behold.

The Dockers kept the ball in their front half, and foundmultiple avenues to goal, from both majestic long shots from beyond the 50 to big grabs within it.

At the other end, their defensive unit was on a mission.

Throwing themselves into every contest, going back with the flight, spoilingand smothering, you name it they did it.

Things were better in the second for Lauderdale in the second, kicking the first three of the quarter, before Kyle Harman started doing some damage inside 50.

His three for the term allowed Burnie to steady, until Nick Dodge managed two wonderful snapped majors which cut the margin to 35 at the long break.

The game then changed.

The muddy environment of the centre square hadslowly spread to other areas of the ground.

This ensured there would be no way this game could have anything close to an open nature to it in the second half.

It took 13 minutes for the first genuine chance, which was taken by Dodge, which was the one and only goal for the term.

This continued in the last quarter.

Harry Walters kickedBurnie’s only goal of the second half early on, and then Lauderdale kicked two more to ensure the margin was only 25.

Harman’s four goals were critical, while Dylan Smith celebrated game 100 with a dominant display, with Nick Walters and Jobi Harper strong throughout.

Like Harman, Dodge’s class stood out for the visitors with four goals, while Robbie McManus and Phillip Bellchambers prominent.

BomberToutai Havea was reported for striking Zane Murphy in the third term.

Other incidents may be looked at in a game which at time got fiery.
