The website ofelectricityproviderPowercor showed homes in a triangle betweenWoodvale, WedderburnandJarklin were without power.

The company estimated it would be 1pm before power was restored.

EARLIER: A woman who fell asleep at the wheel and drove her car into a power pole in Campbells Forest this morning is lucky to be alive, police say.

The 51-year-old driver was travelling east on Sebastian Road at 8.20am when she failed to observe a give way sign and narrowly avoided colliding with another car.

Seconds later, the driver ran her vehicle into a power pole, breaking it in half.

Sergeant Mick McCrann from Bendigo Highway Patrol said the woman confessed to falling asleepjust minutes from reaching her home in nearby Sebastian.

She has been taken to hospital with a cut to the head and will undergo alcohol and drug testing.

While he expected the public were tired of police officers asking them to drive safely, Sergeant McCrann said this crash offered motorists an important lesson.

“Look at this photo and think about times you are driving and feel tired close to home,” he said.

“The end result can be catastrophic.”
